Police hunt man with machete after servo heist

POLICE are hunting a man who stole a stash of drinks, cash and smokes from a service station north of the Gold Coast after pulling a machete on the attendant.

The man strolled into the servo on River Hills Road at Eagleby about 2.14am on Sunday and helped himself to a number of drinks from the fridge.

It’s alleged the man placed the drinks on the counter before pulling a machete out of his pants and threatening the attendant.

While wielding the weapon, the man allegedly demanded cash and cigarettes from the attendant, who complied and filled two brown paper bags.

The armed man took the bags and ran out of the store, leaving the attendant shaking in shock. Thankfully, the employee was not physically injured.

The offender is described as being Caucasian, 180cm tall and having a proportionate build with dark hair and dark coloured facial hair.

He was wearing dark coloured shorts with an Everlast logo, black jacket with assorted white and red stripes, red baseball cap and black runners.
