Police hunt Melbourne sex attacker after woman followed home and assaulted

Police are searching for a man who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman after following her home in Melbourne’s north.

Police said the 22-year-old woman was followed by an unknown man along Wolseley Street in Coburg at about 7.30pm on Thursday 23 June.

As the woman attempted to enter the front door of her house, the man allegedly sexually assaulted her.

He then fled, running in an easterly direction along Wolseley Street, towards Sydney Road.

Detectives from the Fawkner Sexual Offence and Child Abuse Investigation Team are now appealing for public assistance to help identify and locate the offender.

Police have described the man as being approximately 20-years-old, 170cm tall and with a medium build.

He was reportedly wearing a blue jacket with white-coloured sleeves at the time of the alleged offence.
