Police hunt men behind terrifying attack on woman in Sydney park

A woman has been subjected to a terrifying violent attack while walking through a park in Sydney’s south.

The 20-year-old woman had just left Banksia Railway Station and was making her way through Gardiners Park at around 11.30pm on Friday when police say she was grabbed from behind.

It’s alleged one man held the woman while a second started to slash at her with a knife.

The woman was then pushed to the ground and dragged towards a bunch of trees.

It is at this point when police say the woman was eventually able to break free and escape after fighting the men off.

The woman called triple zero and alerted police who, along with paramedics, raced to the scene.

The terrified woman was taken to St George Hospital for treatment to lacerations on her face, body, arms and legs.

Detectives investigating the attack say the woman has been unable to describe her attackers who remain at large.
