Police hunting car after hit-and-run involving school bus

A major search is underway after a car crashed into the side of a Gold Coast school bus before fleeing the scene.

The frightening incident happened at the intersection of West Burleigh Road and Burleigh Street around 3.30pm on Wednesday afternoon.

A Queensland Police spokesperson told myGC the vehicle involved is believed to have been silver or grey.

It’s also believed it may have NSW registration plates.

One person, an elderly woman, was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to John Flynn Private Hospital in a stable condition.

Two others were also assessed but declined transport to hospital.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the vehicle, which would have sustained significant damage in the crash, to come forward.

Investigations are continuing.
