Man on the run after woman bashed and bound in Broadbeach

UPDATE at 3:30 PM | DETECTIVES investigating the violent assault of a woman in Broadbeach on Monday night have released a comfit image of her alleged attacker who remains at large.

The 40-year-old woman was standing outside an apartment complex on Surf Parade about 7pm when a man who police say she had arranged to meet with allegedly assaulted her and tried tying her up.

Following a struggle, police said the woman managed to break free from the man’s grip and seek help from officers at the nearby Broadbeach Police Station.

Her alleged attacker was captured on CCTV, pocketing her mobile phone and personal items before running off and disappearing from view.

Police have this afternoon released a comfit image of the man as they try and track him down.

FIRST at 11:50 AM (by Shanee Dobeson) | A MAN remains on the run after allegedly assaulting a woman in a violent robbery at Broadbeach earlier this week.

The shocking attack happened outside a Surf Parade unit complex around 7pm on Monday, when the 40-year-old victim made arrangements to meet the man, who was not known to her.

Police say the man assaulted the woman, striking her in the face before attempting to restrain her on the ground.

Miraculously, the woman managed to break free from the man’s grip and run to a nearby police station where she sought help.

The man, described as being aged in his late 20s to early 30s, was last seen running south on the Gold Coast Highway after stealing the woman’s mobile phone.

Police have since released CCTV footage in the hope someone may recognise the hooded male in the vision.

He’s understood to have a solid build, blonde hair, blue or green eyes, is clean shaven and was wearing black track pants, a light grey hoody, black cap and no footwear.

The woman received treatment for facial injuries sustained in the assault.

Investigations are continuing.
