Police hunting man after woman assaulted in Gold Coast unit

A woman has been rushed to hospital after allegedly being attacked by a man known to her at a unit on the Gold Coast early this morning.

Emergency crews were called to an apartment block in Mermaid Beach just after 1.00am following reports of a domestic disturbance.

Upon arrival, they found a 27-year-old woman suffering a puncture wound to her back and scratches to her chin.


The young woman was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital.

A Queensland Police spokesperson told myGC the woman’s injuries are thankfully not considered to be life-threatening.

“Police are looking for a man known to her to assist them,” the spokesperson said.

Investigations are ongoing.
