Police hurt after man beaten with stick, kicked in the head in savage attack

A MAN in his 30s has sustained serious injuries after being beaten to the ground with a stick and kicked in the head following an altercation with a group of teenagers in Brisbane north.

Police said the 38-year-old became involved in a heated argument with five teenage males near Bald Hills Road at Bald Hills around 4pm on Saturday.

During the altercation, the man was allegedly bashed with a stick, causing him to fall to the ground, before being kicked in the head by one of the males.

The teens attempted to run from the scene when police arrived and allegedly knocked an officer over in the process.

Their 38-year-old victim was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with serious injuries.

The officer sustained minor injuries and did not require medical treatment.

All five teens were arrested a short time later and taken into custody for questioning.

A 19-year-old man from Caboolture has since been charged with two counts of serious assault police and one count of grievous bodily harm.

He is due to front Pine Rivers Magistrates Court on October 9.

The remaining four teens were released without charge, pending further inquiries.
