MOTORISTS have been urged to avoid the Pacific Motorway near Helensvale following a major police incident.
Emergency services converged on the northbound lanes of the highway around Exit 60 shortly after 3.30pm on Monday.
Witnesses reported seeing a man sitting on the edge of the foot bridge overpass before falling onto the concrete motorway below.

He was rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition.
The incident caused at least two vehicles to swerve and slam into the side barrier. No one else was injured.
At 4.30pm, police advised that the northbound lanes had reopened to traffic, however extreme delays were still being experienced, with congestion back passed Gaven.
Motorists entering the northbound lanes of the M1 from Smith Street have also been heavily affected, with westbound traffic at a standstill.
