Police investigate claims Qld boy was deliberately set on fire

A teenage boy remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital this morning after being found burning on a Noosa doorstep after a horrific Halloween attack.

The 14-year-old is in intensive care in Brisbane’s Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital, with serious burns to 25 per cent of his body.

Police are working to confirm claims three other teens deliberately doused him in fuel and set him on fire at Sunrise Beach on Saturday night before he ran screaming to his Sunrise Beach home.

The flames were extinguished with a garden hose and paramedics were called.

Police are now interviewing witnesses about what they saw but admit the young victim’s side of the story was crucial to inquiries.

Officers will wait to speak to him in hospital once his condition improves.

Police are appealing for anyone who has any information which may be able to assist the investigation to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
