Police investigating after cyclist seriously injured by truck, Tweed

Police are calling for help from the public, as they investigate a horror crash in the Tweed Shire yesterday morning.

Emergency services were called to Tweed Valley Way in Condong just after 6.00am, following reports a truck hit a cyclist.

The white Mitsubishi and the cyclist were both travelling south before the crash happened.

The cyclist – a 43-year-old man – was thrown from his bike, suffering head injuries, fractures to his leg and collarbone and other internal injuries.

He was treated briefly at the scene by paramedics before being taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital.

The truck driver – a 56-year-old man – was uninjured, but taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Investigations are now underway into exactly what happened, but investigators are calling for anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

They’re particularly looking for anyone with vision from Tweed Valley Way near the intersection of Colonial Drive.
