Police investigating after two were seriously injured in head-on crash

Investigations are underway after a nasty head on crash in northern New South Wales hospitalised two drivers.

Early reports say two cars collided head on near an intersection in Dum Dum, north of Nimbin.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Kyogle Road near Mount Warning Road around 5.30pm yesterday.

Both drivers had sustained serious injuries in the incident.

A 21-year-old man had to be airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital, while a 60-year-old woman was transported by road to the same hospital.

Their current conditions are not known.

Meantime, a crime scene has now been established at the crash site, with the Ballina Crash Investigation Unit now investigating.

Traffic is blocked in both directions, with diversions in place onto Smiths Creek Road.

Police are also urging anyone with information about the crash to be in contact immediately.
