Police investigating carjackings in Helensvale and Robina

A man has been charged following investigations into two carjackings on the Gold Coast on Sunday.

A 37-year-old man has been charged with armed robbery and entering with intent.


He will appear before the Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Investigations are continuing.

Police are investigating following two separate carjackings on the Gold Coast yesterday afternoon.

Around 1:30pm two men approached a man who had just parked his BMW sedan at Westfield Helensvale carpark.

The passenger produced a knife and placed the man in a headlock before demanding his car keys, which were handed over.

After failing to start the vehicle, the two men fled the scene in a Mitsubishi sedan.

The 41-year-old man did not sustain physical injuries.

Around 2:15pm they approached a woman who had just parked her white BMW X3 station wagon on Fairlight Avenue in Robina.

The passenger approached the woman with a knife and demanded she exist her vehicle, to which she complied.

The 43-year-old did not sustain any physical injuries.

Investigations are continuing, and police are urging anyone who spots a white BMW X3 station wagon with the registration 981 WCO to contact them.
