Police investigating stabbing death in Albury

A man has been charged following investigations into the stabbing death of a man near Albury on Sunday night.

A 42-year-old man was arrested at around 10:45am yesterday on Mate Street in Lavington.

He was taken to Albury Police Station where he was charged with murder and attempted murder.

The man was refused bail and will appear in Albury Local Court today.

Investigations are underway after a man died in a stabbing incident in Albury last night.

At around 8:30pm police were called to a property on Webb Street, Lavington, where a 35-year-old man had sustained a stab wound to the chest.

He was rushed to Albury Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police from Albury Local Area Command have established a crime scene and commenced inquiries.

Witnesses have told police the victim and another man were involved in an altercation on the front lawn of the property when the stabbing occurred.

No arrests have been made at this stage.
