Police investigating suspicious death of Qld toddler

Police are investigating the suspicious death of a toddler north of Brisbane.

Paramedics were called to a home on Staaten St in Burpengary on the afternoon of December 30 last year in relation to the medical welfare of a child.

The 16-month-old boy was taken to the Queensland Children’s Hospital in a critical condition.

The boy died in hospital on January 8.

Police say the cause of death is still being determined.

An investigation is underway involving detectives from the Child Trauma Unit and Homicide Investigation Unit.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious or concerning activity in the vicinity of Staaten St involving a male child in the lead up to December 30 to come forward.
