Police issue warning to GC tradies following spike in tool thefts from cars

Gold Coast tradies are being warned to ensure they lock up their cars and tool boxes following a spike in thefts in the Southport and Labrador area.

“The Southport Division has experienced a number of offences relating to theft of tools from trade vehicles, as well as a number of offences where vehicles have been left unlocked,” police said in a statement.

It’s believed opportunistic thieves are targeting trade vehicles with trailers and lockable storage compartments, with owners of these types of vehicles urged to take extra precaution when leaving their vehicles unattended.
