Police looking for car used in Golf Club heist

DETECTIVES are trying to find a vehicle used in a terrifying robbery at the Gold Coast Country Club last week where the 60-year-old caretaker was beaten with a bat and stuffed in a car boot.

Police said two men stormed the Helensvale house of the caretaker around 10pm on Thursday October 23 where one of the men struck him with a baseball bat.

The other man claimed he had a gun, but police said none was sighted.

The pair then forced the caretaker to attend the nearby golf club on Country Club Drive and gain entry to the clubhouse.

Once inside, the men stole a stash of cash before forcing the man into the boot of his own vehicle and driving a short distance along Country Club Drive where he was let out and dumped on the side of the road.

The pair then drove away in the caretaker’s white 2004 Hyundai Sonata with Queensland rego 515-HXY – similar to that pictured.

He was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital with cuts and abrasions to his head and torso.

The vehicle has not been located.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have seen the vehicle or have any information which could assist with the investigation to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
