Police make 77 arrests at Sydney music festival

Nearly 80 people have been arrested at a music festival in Sydney’s west.

Police with sniffer dogs were out in force at Defqon in Penrith – finding 77 revellers had illicit drugs.

More than 200 people were treated for drug and heat-related illnesses – six of those were hospitalised.

Police also targeted people driving to the event, which drew a crowd of around 24,500.

630 random breath tests were carried out with eight people being charged with drink driving, while 44 people returned positive results for driving whilst under the influence of drugs.
