Police make arrests after spotting stolen car speeding through Helensvale

Two men face charges after police spotted a stolen car speeding around Helensvale on Saturday night.

Officers from the Gold Coast Rapid Action Patrol group noticed the car on Oxley Drive at 10:00pm, but the driver allegedly sped off.

Later they found the car has crashed at the intersection of Helensvale Road and Ben Dalley Drive.

Police arrested 17-year-old man from Paradise Point.  He has been charged with one count each of unlawful use of motor vehicle, possession of a knife in a public place and breach of bail condition.

A 20-year-old man from Coombabah was also arrested and charged with one count of unlawful use of motor vehicle.

Both men will face the Southport Magistrates Court on Monday.
