Man locked in car armed with knife surrenders to police
UPDATE: A man who has been in a standoff with police for more than 2 hours has finally surrendered.
Officers wearing bullet proof vests surrounded themselves around the vehicle in Camo Street, Southport just before 2.00pm.
The man, who was armed with multiple knives, has been taken into custody.

EARLIER: Police are negotiating with a man who has locked himself inside a car armed with a knife on the Gold Coast.
Officers wearing bullet proof vests have surrounded themselves around the vehicle which is near the Sundale Apartments in Southport.
Negotiations are underway and police have put down road spikes to stop the man from attempting to flee in the vehicle.
Como Street in Southport has been closed.
