Police officer accused of accessing child abuse material

A NSW police officer, who is attached to a specialist command, has been charged after allegedly accessing child abuse material online.

The 48-year-old male sergeant was arrested on Friday afternoon after officers stopped his car at Bossley Park.

He was taken to Fairfield Police Station and charged with use carriage service to access child abuse material, and not keep firearm safely.

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today.

The officer has since been suspended from duty.
