Investigations are underway after a police officer was bludgeoned with a glass bottle in Sydney.
Around 12.30am Sunday morning, the officer saw two men fighting on Luxford Road and pulled over to see what was going on.
When he intervened, a third man attacked him with a glass bottle, bashing his skull leaving a deep gash.

The trio then took off and are described as Caucasian, with thin builds, shaved heads and tattoos.
A large search of the area was conducted, with assistance from the Public Order and Riot Squad PolAir and the Dog Unit.
The Acting Inspector is in stable condition in the Nepean Hospital.
