Police officer bitten while arresting a man at a fast food restaurant

A police officer has been bitten while arresting a man at a fast food outlet in Sydney this morning.

Police were called to the business on the Great Western Highway at Minchinbury around 6.00am, following reports a man was behaving erratically, allegedly drinking hand sanitiser and throwing food.

Officers tried to arrest the man, before a struggle broke out.


A 22-year-old probationary constable was bitten on his right arm during the arrest.

The man has since been arrest and is undergoing assessment in hospital.

The bitten officer is also being checked over, while another officer is being treated for cuts.

Police say inquiries are continuing.
