Police officer charged with beating woman while on-duty

A SENIOR Constable from the NSW Police Force has been charged after allegedly beating a woman while on-duty during an incident in the state’s Central West.

It’s understood the 33-year-old officer was trying to arrest the 20-year-old woman when it’s alleged he assaulted her and damaged her jewellery on December 30 last year.

The woman sustained facial injuries during the incident.

Following an internal investigation, the officer was last week served with a Court Attendance Notice for assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault and malicious damage.

He is expected to appear before Orange Local Court on Monday, July 30.

In a statement, a NSW Police Force spokesperson said the officer’s employment was “under review”.
