Police officers assaulted after trying to break up fight in Logan

Two police officers have been assaulted while trying to break up a fight between two men at a home in Logan Village in the early hours of Friday morning.

Officers were called to a property on Quinzeh Creek Road around 12.50am where they found two men involved in a physical altercation.

The police were trying to separate them when one of the men threatened the officers, before charging at them, knocking a female officer to the ground and causing her to hit her head.

Police attempted to restrain the man when the second man violently struggled and resisted arrest, punching a male officer to the head and female officer to the torso.

The second man then tried to run off before neighbours stepped in to help.

The female officer sustained swelling and bruising to the back of her head, lacerations to her left hand and swelling to her left thumb.

The male officer sustained bruising to his head and swelling to his right thumb.

An 18-year-old Eagleby man has been charged with three counts of assaulting a police officer.

He is due to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on May 5.

Investigations are continuing.
