Police officers hospitalised after collision on Central Coast

Two police officers have been injured after a young man crashed into the back of their police vehicle.

The two senior constables, a 40-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman, were responding to a car fire off Patonga Road at Patonga when their car was struck.

The pair were treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Gosford Hospital, where they are understood to be in a stable condition.

The 21-year-old man driving the other car escaped unharmed and was taken for mandatory testing.

Police say the car fire from the original incident was extinguished and no one was injured.

An investigation is now underway into both incidents.
