POLICE have prevented a potentially dangerous situation from unfolding on the Gold Coast following the arrest of a suspicious man armed with “edged weapons”.
The Queensland Police Service released a statement on Wednesday afternoon confirming the incident and commended the officers involved.
“Police from Robina, Brisbane Railway Squad and Gold Coast District Duty Officers combined today to follow a man acting suspiciously,” the statement read.

“Upon being intercepted in a licenced premise in the Robina Division, a search revealed him being in possession of edged weapons.”
Police said the weapons were concealed under the man’s clothing.
“Congratulations to the officers involved who resolved this matter without injury to themselves or the offender, each who acted with safety in mind and in reality, may have prevented further serious offences from being comitted.”
