Police probe botched ATM robbery at Pimpama
A PAIR of would-be thieves have started a fire while trying to cut their way into an ATM on the northern Gold Coast.
The bumbling bandits allegedly tried cutting their way into the teller at a shopping centre at Pimpama around 4am.
It’s understood the offenders cut a hole in a wall next to the ATM and tried busting into the back of the machine.
But, instead of getting their hands on a stash of cash, the desperate offenders accidentally sparked a fire.
Thankfully, the flames were only small and the ill-equipped robbers took off empty-handed.

Police are investigating whether the incident is linked to other similar ATM heists across the Coast and in Brisbane.
Anyone with any information that could assist police with their investigation is urged to come forward.
