Police probe shooting at Melbourne cafe

Police are investigating after a number of shots were fired into a Melbourne cafe overnight.

Police said multiple shots were fired into the Burgundy Street premises in Heidelberg just before 1am.

Officers raced to the area and conducted extensive patrols of the area, however failed to locate any offenders or suspect vehicles.

Several front glass panels were damaged in the shooting.

Fortunately, no one was injured.

Detectives from the Banyule Crime Investigation Unit are investigating.
