Police race to reports of shots fired in heist at Brisbane jewellers
UPDATE 4:45pm | Police are hunting two people who held up an antique jewellery at gunpoint store in Brisbane earlier this afternoon.
Reportedly armed with rifles, the duo stormed the Logan Road store at Wooloongabba shortly after 2pm.
It’s understood the pair fled with a stash of expensive jewellery.
A staff member took to Facebook during the frightening heist, pleading for someone to call triple zero.
Clearly terrified, the female staffer claimed that a shotgun had been fired.
Police were initially unable to confirm whether a shotgun had been discharged, however, after thoroughly examining the scene, detectives now say a firearm was discharged.
It’s understood one of the offenders fired a single shot into a staircase inside the store.
Fortunately, no one was injured.
A car believed to have been stolen by the two offenders and used as a getaway car has been found dumped nearby.
It’s understood the suspects tried torching the vehicle before abandoning it.
A large search is now under way to locate the offenders who are said to be armed and dangerous.
