Police raid uncovers illegal brothel near primary school

TWO alleged prostitutes have been arrested and charged after police uncovered an illegal brothel operating near a primary school in Brisbane.

Officers from the Ferny Grove Criminal Investigation Branch raided a massage parlour on Waterworks Road at The Gap on Tuesday, March 26.

It’s alleged the parlour, which was located a short distance away from a primary school, was being used as a front for an illegal prostitution business.

While searching the premises, two women agtwed 32 and 40 were arrested.

The 32-year-old owner of the business was charged with carrying on business of providing unlawful prostitution and four counts of engaging in prostitution through an unlawful prostitution business.

The older woman who was police allege was an ’employee’ of the business was charged with engaging in prostitution through an unlawful prostitution business.

Both are due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on April 29.

Tuesday’s action formed part of Romeo Essence, a three month operation aimed at dismantling organised illegal prostitution, including businesses operating under the guise of legitimate massage parlours.
