QUEENSLAND police have released their latest weapon to catch speeding motorists this holiday season.
Acting Assistant Commissioner Mike Keating today announced that five Police motorcycles throughout the state now carry a mobile radar unit that can detect speeding motorists on the run; similar to what has been in Police vehicles since 1988.
“While radar technology has been available for many years, it has only recently been modified to be compatible with police motorcycles,” Acting Assistant Commissioner Keating said.

“The radar unit is compact and fits easily to the Queensland Police Service motorcycles without the need of modification to existing equipment.
Results from the radars already in operation have been highly successful with one motorist’s speed recorded at 154 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.
The Queensland Police Service would like to remind motorists to be aware of speed limits and check their speed over the busy holiday period.
