Police search for boy struck by car on the Gold Coast

POLICE are appealing for public assistance to help find a young boy who was run over by a car on the Gold Coast this afternoon.

The boy, who is described as being 12-years-old, was struck after running out onto the road at the intersection of Dawn Parade and the Gold Coast Highway at Miami around 2pm.

The driver of the vehicle stopped to help the child, but police said he got up and ran away from the scene. Officers say they hold grave concerns for the boy as he may be injured.

Police have spent the last two hours conducting patrols of the area but have so far been unable to locate the child.

They are urging him to attend Gold Coast University Hospital with fears he may have sustained serious injuries. Police have assured the boy that he will not be in trouble.

He is described as being approximately 12-years-old, short, with a slim build and was wearing tracksuit pants, a bum-bag and a dark blue hat.
