The chase kicked off around 7.30pm, when the white Holden Commodore evaded police southbound on the M1 around Stapylton.
It was then tracked by PolAir 1 through to Surfers Paradise, before it turned north and travelled along the Gold Coast Highway to Southport.
Police successfully deployed a tyre deflation device.
The driver then ran a red light and struck another car – which had two people inside.
It’s understood the man made it to the Broadwater Parklands before police were able to arrest him.
Witnesses describe the chase as dramatic, with police cars having to drive onto the grass.
Paramedics attended and assessed the man, as well as the two occupants from the other vehicle.
All three were transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital.
Police are calling on anyone with information or dash cam footage of the incident to be in contact.
Investigations are continuing.
