Police seek witnesses to serious crash in Sydney

Police are appealing for witnesses to a crash in Sydney’s north which left a motorcyclist seriously injured yesterday morning.

Police say a black Hyundai Imax collided with a Harley Davison motorcycle at the intersection of the M2 and Lane Cove Road in Macquarie Park just after 7.30am.

The Imax was travelling in a north easterly direction on Lane Cove Road, with the motorcycle attempting to turn right on to Lane Cove Road from the M2 when the crash occurred, police said.

As a result of the crash, the 46-year-old male rider suffered serious lower leg injuries.

He was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition.

The 59-year-old man driving the van – a US National – was arrested at the scene and taken to Ryde Police Station for questioning.

He was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.

He was granted bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on Monday.

Police from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit are appealing for any witnesses to the crash to come forward, particularly drivers who were travelling north on Lane Cove Road at the time.
