POLICE SHOOTING: Critical incident investigation launched after man dies
A man has died in Gold Coast University Hospital after being shot by police during a confrontation at Grafton yesterday.
Just before 3.45pm, officers were called to a unit on Turf Street following reports of a disturbance.
On arrival, officers were allegedly confronted by a man armed with a knife.
Police say an officer discharged a Taser, before the man was shot.
He was treated at the scene by officers until paramedics arrived and transported him to Grafton Base Hospital in a critical condition.
The man was then airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital where he died.
“A critical incident team will now investigate all circumstances surrounding the incident,” police said in a statement.
“That investigation will be subject to independent review.”
