Man shot dead by police on Sunshine Coast

UPDATE: POLICE have confirmed a 51-year-old man from interstate was shot dead by officers on the Sunshine Coast this afternoon.

About 2pm on Sunday police say they were called to a home on Outlook Drive at Tewantin where they were confronted with the hostile man.

During a confrontation, police discharged their firearms, with witnesses reporting hearing up to three shots.


The man was shot the chest and fatally wounded.

Police are still yet to determine whether or not he was armed. 

The incident is now being investigated by the Queensland Police Ethical Standards Command. 

EARLIER: A MAN has reportedly been shot dead by police on the Sunshine Coast this afternoon.

It’s understood the shooting took place after an incident on Outlook Drive, a quiet street in the suburb of Tewantin, just after 2.30pm. 

Scores of emergency services remain at the scene and parts of the road have been closed while investigations are carried out.
