Police swarm shopping centre carpark after stolen vehicle spotted

A number of police officers have descended on a popular shopping centre on the Gold Coast this afternoon following sightings of an alleged stolen vehicle.

The car, a white Hyundai, was spotted in the carpark of Australia Fair shopping centre on Marine Parade in Southport just before 12.30pm.

Officers swarmed the area and blocked the exits in a bid to stop the vehicle from leaving.

A Queensland Police spokesperson told myGC that officers managed to trap the vehicle near the northern entrance of the carpark around 12.45pm.

Two people travelling in the car, a man and woman, were arrested at the scene.

Investigations are continuing.
