Police to investigate fatal Hinterland crash

THE Forensic Crash Unit will investigate the tragic death of a motorbike rider in the Gold Coast Hinterland on Sunday.

At around 11.30am, a van travelling north on Nerang-Murwillumbah Road in Advancetown collided with two motorcycles travelling in the opposite direction.

A motorcyclist, a 59-year-old Carindale man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Reports suggest the rider was thrown 30 metres down an embankment as a result of the impact and his body had to be winched up the hill by emergency services.

Another motorcyclist, a 58-year-old Eatons Hill man, was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with serious injuries.

That rider’s current state is unknown at this stage.

The driver of the van, a 56-year-old Browns Plains man, was also taken to hospital for treatment.
