Police track down duo accused of armed robberies

THE LONG arm of the law has caught up with two men, accused of armed attacks two Gold Coast businesses.

It’s alleged the duo armed themselves with a metal bar before entering a store on Pine Ridge Road at Coombabah on Friday morning.

Police say they threatened a male worker, who handed over cash before the men ran off, around 6.15am.

Then, around 2.20pm the same men are accused of targeting a Southport business on Davenport Street. This time, armed with a knife.

They allegedly made demands to the female shop attendant, who ran to the back of the store and the men took off empty handed.

Detectives located two men at separate residences in Labrador on Friday night and took them in for questioning.

A 23-year-old Labrador man has been charged with one count each of armed robbery, attempted armed robbery and possession of dangerous drugs.

He is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates court today.

A 25-year-old man is assisting police with their enquiries.
