POLICE have uncovered a large drug laboratory during the search of a unit in Mackay.
Detectives swarmed on the Mount Pleasant apartment just after 5.00pm on Saturday, where they discovered equipment and chemicals allegedly being used in the production of methylamphetamine.
A crime scene was established, with officers from the Illicit Laboratory Investigation Team deployed to the property to dismantle the set-up today.

Police said a search of a nearby car also allegedly uncovered a sawn off rifle, a pistol, taser, a quantity of dangerous drugs, restricted medication and stolen property.
A 35-year-old man has since been charged with three counts each of possessing restricted drugs and possessing dangerous drugs; and one count each of possessing a ‘Category H’ weapon, possessing a ‘Category R’ weapon, possessing explosives (ammunition), possessing a shortened firearm and possessing tainted property.
Investigations into the illicit laboratory are continuing.
