Police working to identify driver killed in NSW crash

POLICE are working to identify a man killed in a single-vehicle crash north of Sydney.

The accident happened in the Yengo National Park at Mellong around 4.35pm AEDT.

Police said a car was travelling along Putty Road when it left the road and struck a tree.

Sadly, there was nothing that paramedics could do to save the driver.

Police confirmed he died at the scene.

Investigators were working to formally identify the man at the time of writing.

A crime scene has been established and will this evening be examined by forensic specialists.

A contraflow is in place to handle traffic at the crash site.
