Commonwealth Games Minister Kate Jones is adamant politicians and public servants must pay for their tickets at the games.
The hard line stance comes after reports of councillors planning to use ratepayer funded tickets for personal use, drawing outrage from residents who missed out on tickets in the random draw.
But Ms Jones insists any tickets purchased would be for the purpose of official business – not for personal use by MPs, ministers or their families.

“Queenslanders expect the highest level of accountability when it comes to government officials’ attending the Games,” Ms Jones said.
“That’s why we have always said there will be no free, complimentary or discounted tickets for the Games.”
