Popular Christmas candle holders recalled over fire fears

A popular Christmas candle holder known to make an appearance on the family dining table once a year has been recalled over fears it may catch fire.

Big W issued the recall of its 2016 season Christmas Candle Holders with article numbers 484844, 484848 and 484846 on Wednesday.

“BIG W takes product safety seriously and wishes to advise customers of a product recall on the following product,” the department store said in a statement.

It’s understood the decorations surrounding the candle holder could catch fire.

“Potential burns or fire causing property damage, serious injury or death could occur,” the recall notice reads.

No proof of purchase is required.

Meanwhile, a similar Christmas votive candle sold at Woolworths stores around the country from 1 October 2017 – 31 December 2017 has also been recalled for the same reason.

Customers are being told they can return the Inspire Xmas Glass Votive Candle to any Woolworths store for a full refund.
