A popular swimming enclosure on the northern Gold Coast has been closed to the public following a shark sighting.
Locals are believed to have spotted the shark at the Jabiru Island swimming area in Paradise Point on Tuesday afternoon.
City of Gold Coast confirmed in a statement to myGC that the enclosure has since been closed.

“A member of the public reported a possible shark sighting at the Jabiru Island swimming area,” Council said.
“As a precaution, the City immediately erected signs closing the area to swimming.”
Council says officers will inspect the enclosure before it’s reopened. In the meantime, locals are being warned to stay out.
“There have been no further sightings but the swimming area will be closed until further notice.”
