Popular protein bars recalled over allergic reaction fears

Two popular protein bars have been recalled across the country over fears they may pose a risk to people with peanut allergies.

The Bondi Protein Co Vegan Protein Bar Chocolate Flavour 60g and Salted Caramel Flavour 60g have been pulled from shelves nationwide.

According to a recall notice posted by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, the recall is due to the presence of an undeclared allergen (peanut).

“Any consumers who have a peanut allergy or intolerance may have a reaction if the product is consumed,” the notice said.

The bars have been available for sale at Chemist Warehouse stores nationwide.

The affected chocolate protein bars have a best before date of  04/02/22 and 14/03/22, while the Salted Caramel Flavour’s best before dates include 29/01/22.

Anyone who has a peanut allergy or intolerance is being told not to consume this product and to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
