Popular Simpsons character set to come out as gay in latest season

AN iconic Simpsons character is set to come out as gay in the latest season of the popular cartoon series.

Waylon Smithers, who has been in-love with his billionaire boss Montgomery C. Burns since the first season, may finally be ready to reveal his true colours to the love of his life.

The shows producer hinted to viewers that the upcoming season 27, may see the personal assistant finally open up.

“In Springfield now, most people know he’s gay, but obviously Burns doesn’t,” producer Al Jean told TVLine.

“We deal with that in two episodes,” he added.

“We actually do a lot with Smithers this year. He gets fed up with Burns not appreciating him and considers his options.”

Smithers’s coming out reinforces acceptance of the LGBT community.
