Powerlines trap motorist after crash in NSW

A man’s been trapped in his car by electrical wires after a crash which happened 25 kilometres west of Sydney’s CBD.

Emergency crews were called to Christina Road, Villawood following reports of a crash, just before 11.30pm on Thursday.

Initial investigations suggest a Toyota Camry was travelling west on Christina Road, when it left the roadway and rolled, crashing into a power pole.

The driver, a 30-year-old man, was trapped for some time due to hazardous electrical wires.

He was then treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No one else was injured during the incident.

Christina Road remains closed with local traffic diversions in place.
