Pregnant Queenslander attacked by shark in Thailand

A pregnant Queensland woman is believed to have been attacked by a shark in Thailand.

The Phuket Gazette reported that she was bitten on the foot while she was wading in shallow waters at Karon Beach off Phuket.

Jane Neame, who’s due in three months, had a tendon in her ankle severed and had surgery at Bangkok hospital after the attack on Tuesday, the Phuket Gazette reported.

Pictures of the wound were sent to the Phuket Marine Biological Center’s Endangered Species Unit.

“Based on the picture, it looks like the wound was caused by a shark,” Kongkiat Kittiwattanawong, head of the unit, told the Phuket Gazette.
