Prince takes on role of gardner in RWC video tribute

PRINCE Harry, still sporting his budding beard, has opened the Rugby World Cup in England and taken a turn at acting.

The much-loved royal rascal plays a gardner in a video tribute to the founder of the game, William Webb Ellis, who picked up a soccer ball and ran with it in 1823.

“Don’t worry Johnny, that’ll never take off,” says Harry’s character as they watch Ellis run away, ball tucked under his arm.

The opening game of the World Cup was won by hosts England at Twickenham Stadium this morning. They beat Fiji 35-11.

Australia plays Fiji on Thursday morning (EST).
