Prison escapees found hiding in NSW apartment

Two men who escaped from a correctional facility in Ivanhoe have been arrested.

The prisoners, aged 29 and 31, escaped from a correctional centre on Mitchell Street about 6pm on Saturday 9 July.

Following a state-wide search for the pair, they were last night discovered hiding in an apartment in Warrawong.

The men were arrested and charged with a number of offences.

Some of those include inmate escape/attempt to escape from lawful custody, two counts of assault law enforcement officer, aggravated break, enter and commit serious indictable offence, and take and drive conveyance.

They were refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court today.
